Many of us have spent years gathering the pieces of our family history—building family trees, preserving photographs and documents, or recording stories from parents, grandparents, and other relatives. Yet an important question often remains unanswered: How do we transform those fragments into a well-crafted story that both informs and engages our families today, while preserving a meaningful legacy for generations to come?

The Executive Club is pleased to offer a 90-minute masterclass on  The Essentials of Telling Your Family’s Story, presented by veteran journalist and author Paul T. O’Connor. During a distinguished 42-year newspaper career, much of it covering North Carolina politics, Paul developed a reputation for uncovering the stories behind the headlines. He also spent three decades teaching journalism at UNC–Chapel Hill, where he created a course on family storytelling inspired by his own research into a remarkable family history.

Drawing on both journalistic principles and genealogical research, he will offer practical guidance on organizing family history into a coherent story that preserves not only facts, but also the lives, relationships, and decisions that shaped them.
